Fashion Tips: How to Wear a Maxi Skirt

Every fashionista’s wardrobe should contain at least one maxi skirt.  Maxi skirts are incredibly romantic; they are also easy to combine with various style garments. Maxi skirts can make any figure look slimmer and taller, and this is something that anyone would not mind to achieve! I am going to present to you six creative ideas on how to wear a maxi skirt. Keep in mind that these are just suggestions, and many showcased items are easily replaceable by something you have in your wardrobe.

With cardigan. If you wear a maxi skirt, then tops, jackets or cardigans should not be very long. Fitted tops and cardigans are great for wearing with a maxi skirt. In this particular set, I went with the floral top to accentuate the feminine look of the skirt. Such details as belt and bracelet give that extra something for a complete and chic look.

With leather jacket. Leather continues to be one of the hottest trends of the season. Contrary to the previous set, in this set, the combination of light chiffon skirt and leather jacket creates the contrast. The romance and femininity of the skirt, the floral blouse and the earrings and the masculinity of the biker jacket creates this unforgettable look. Have I mentioned that mixing different styles is also one of the trends of the season? Ankle-high boots are great for wearing with a maxi skirt, as you can see from these couple of sets. It is ideal that your skirt covers the ankles – in this case your legs would look unforgivably long. I have chosen the boots which were very close in color to the skirt to maximize the effect of “long legs”

This set was created in neutral colors, except for the striped emerald top, which gives some color spiciness to the outfit. Notice that light maxi skirts can be worn with high boots, both high heeled and flat.

With tuxedo jacket. This set is so far my favorite! There is something so special about romantic maxi skirt being combined with sleeveless tuxedo jacket. For an evening outfit like this a clutch and a pair of pumps are a must. Notice how the Perl bracelet accentuates the luxury of the outfit, making it perfect for a special occasion.

With classy jacket. As you may have noticed from my previous posts, I love classy jackets. And of course, classy jackets are also great for wearing with a maxi skirt. Add a printed top and pumps to that, and you get a very elegant outfit, which will serve you well for many purposes.

With sporty jacket. If none of the sets has appealed to your taste, it is possible that sporty look is what you are looking for. You do not necessarily have to wear high heels with a maxi skirt. Flat ankle boots and even keds will work here as well – with the condition that the whole outfit would have a sporty feel. In this case the jacket and white glasses gives us that sporty feel we are looking for.  I also like how the oversize top is knotted, so the waistline is not lost.
